Saving Moseley Road Baths
A partnership project between Moseley Road Baths and Women & Theatre
Moseley Road Baths and Women & Theatre welcome the opportunity to work in partnership to develop a new celebratory community theatre production, “The Saving of Moseley Road Baths.”
This unique piece, crafted from research from personal experiences, promises to unveil the stories of the Baths and underscore its pivotal role as a civic space. Showcasing the many people who lent a helping hand in its salvation and understand its profound value to our local communities.
We’re not just telling a story; we’re inviting you to be a part of it.
We want to know what were the inspiring and extraordinary efforts to save the Baths? Who were those diverse partners who converged to achieve remarkable feats? Were you one of them?
We want to share stories of as many individuals’ who were part of the journey and highlight how, after two decades of community campaigning led by the Friends of Moseley Road Baths, an informal partnership which led to a coalition being formed in 2016.
“Not only is this a story about the fight for saving Birmingham’s palace but a fight for adversity and doing the impossible.”
Joe Holyoak (Chair of Friends of MRB and Trustee for MRB CIO)
What we do know about the performances.
There will be three performances, taking the form of an animated timeline, that will take place in March 2024 at the Old Print Works, Balsall Heath. The production will be lo-fi, friendly, and accessible, with the emphasis on telling the story of the Baths and its communities. The piece will incorporate immersive elements and be performed by a community cast made up of staff, volunteers, local people, and those with links to our Coalition partners. In addition to the live performance, we will also produce a project podcast incorporating some or all of the performance or script audio.
