Join us this Saturday, September 9th, for a full day of workshops as part of Balsall Heath’s Second Saturday. The day includes tours by The Friends of Moseley Road Baths at 2pm, and there are still available slots—book yours now. On Sunday, September 10th, from 10 am to 4 pm, Moseley Road Baths will host a free digital skills boot camp for individuals aged 15-25. This engaging event will be led by Birmingham Open Media and will cover 3D scanning and photogrammetry, introduce you to 3D printing, and offer a motion capture workshop. ChangeKitchen CIC is an award winning event caterer and thriving social enterprise based in Balsall heath.
The workshop will be all about empowering people to cook low-cost, healthy meals for themselves. The session is going to be particularly interesting because we are going to be using a thermal cooking bag. We will start the meal off on the stove but only for about 10 minutes and then put it inside the bag where it will continue to cook for three or four hours.
The thermal cooking bags are amazing because they work like slow cookers but without any electricity – they are just really, well insulated bags. You can start it off in the morning and then, when you come home from work in the evening, you will have a hot meal ready for you.

The Imperial Revisited
Across the road from Moseley Road Baths once stood the Imperial, a cinema which was at the heart of the local community in the 60s and 70s. This evening we’ll be taking a trip back to the golden age of Hindi cinema, with classic songs from the likes of Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle along with two rarely-seen BBC films, both from 1973:
A Touch of Eastern Promise
Half hour drama about a boy who meets his favourite star, filmed at the Imperial itself and featuring many locals as extras in the audience.
Bombay Superstar
A documentary focussing on the late actor Rajesh Khanna, at the height of his fame. Also includes interviews with Shashi Kapoor and Mumtaz, and footage of Khanna’s surprise wedding to Dimple Kapadia.
Flatpack is a mobile arts organisation which exists to show amazing work, bring people together and develop new ideas.
