About us

We’re hiring – Chief Executive Officer

June 9, 2026

This is a rare opportunity to become the first CEO of Moseley Road Baths

We’re looking for someone to lead our organisation through an exciting period of change and growth, as we restore and reopen one of the country’s much loved, historic swimming facilities.

Located in the heart of Balsall Heath, Birmingham, Moseley Road Baths is a Grade II* listed Edwardian public baths. Since opening in 1907, generations of local people have learned to swim here, attended galas and events and made the Baths part of everyday life.

Today, the building is undergoing a fully funded £35.7m transformation that will secure its future for years to come.

When restoration is complete, Moseley Road Baths will once again be a place for swimming, wellbeing, learning, creativity and community life. The restored site will include the iconic Gala Pool, a community gym and wellbeing hub, new spaces for activities and events, improved accessibility throughout, and a physical connection to neighbouring Balsall Heath Library for the first time.

As our first CEO, you will help lead us through this exciting next phase.

A once-in-a-career opportunity

This is not a typical CEO role.

You will join Moseley Road Baths at a pivotal point in its history, working alongside an experienced Board and project team as the restoration progresses.

You’ll help shape the future organisation, build and lead a team, develop partnerships and income streams and prepare the Baths for reopening in late 2028.

Most importantly, you’ll help make sure that Moseley Road Baths remains rooted in the community that fought to save it.

Who we’re looking for

We are open to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.

You might already be a CEO. You might be a senior leader looking to take your first CEO role.

You could come from heritage, leisure, culture, community development, social enterprise, health and wellbeing, education or another sector entirely.

What matters most is your ability to lead people, build relationships, think strategically and bring others with you.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • An inspiring and collaborative leader
  • Committed to community-led approaches
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial and outward-looking
  • Excited by the opportunity to shape a new organisation
  • Passionate about creating positive social impact

We particularly welcome applications from people who reflect the diversity of Birmingham and Balsall Heath and from those who have followed non-traditional routes into leadership.

Salary and location

  • £55,000-£60,000 per annum
  • Permanent, full-time
  • Based in Birmingham
