Meet Women & Theatre
Women & Theatre is an award-winning Birmingham based theatre company and charity. We make deep work about things that matter, reflecting the language and lives of ordinary people. Working across the arts, health, education and community sectors, we have been pioneering new ways of addressing contemporary issues through performance since 1983.
Women and Theatre develop theatre from research, respecting individual human stories, making our work truly relevant and resonant for audiences. We are value driven, our artistic and operational methodology is grounded in an open, collaborative and solution-focussed way. Our focus is not limited to women’s experiences, and we work with a wide cross section of the community on a range of issues.
We provide creative opportunities for people to engage with culture in the heart of their communities. We have a strong track record for developing partnership projects across – different contexts, which make a real-world difference for participants and the wider community. We address the big questions of the day and challenge all forms of inequality be it gender, race, sexuality, age, class, disability, or beliefs. We strive to represent the diverse communities of Birmingham and beyond.
