Yes. You will have induction and training for your volunteer role which will include:

  • Customer service
  • Health and safety
  • Safeguarding
  • Data protection
  • The work and history of Moseley Road Baths

 

For lifeguards, there is essential monthly training.

To be a lifeguard you must have the NPLQ qualification and we can support you to gain this if you don’t have it. You need to be a strong swimmer and be able to attend a monthly training session.

To volunteer you must be 16 years of age.

Yes, we do. You can claim back travel expenses to and from the Baths which includes bus tickets or car and bike mileage.

Volunteer opportunities can be as long or as short as you want! That might be an hour a month or it could be five days a week. Some roles may be a one-off, some short term and others longer term.

You can volunteer at any time of the week including evenings and weekends.

Volunteering brings people a feeling of giving back to their community and an opportunity to use their skills or gain new ones. It can be important work experience and good for your CV.

Moseley Road Baths is a great place to make new friends and find out about local culture and community events. You will be part of one of Birmingham’s most important heritage sites!

Many people are concerned that volunteering might affect their benefits and with the move to a new benefit system called Universal Credit, there is bound to be some uncertainty. We suggest speaking to your benefits advisor if you have any questions, and please let us know of any concerns so that we may help you.
