Julie Berman

I retired from teaching in 2017 and joined the team as a volunteer lifeguard in October 2018. My earliest memory of Moseley Road Baths is from 1963 when my Auntie brought me here…..not to swim but to take a bath! She lived in an old house with no bathroom and no hot water.

It was the longest, coldest winter ever and I remember how wonderful it felt to step inside this amazing building and relax in a lovely, hot, steamy bath. Moseley Road Baths also helped me through my first years as a young teacher when a group of us would come down every Friday after school to swim off the week and celebrate the start of the weekend.  Later, when I had my own family, I sat on the poolside while my daughter took swimming lessons.

Moseley Road Baths has been good to me over the years and now I have some free time I’m proud to be giving something back.
