Who is it for?

Chat & Splash sessions are for women over 18 years of age, living in the Balsall Heath and Highgate areas of Birmingham, to come along and meet other women and increase social connections and build friendships, which can help to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote feelings of general wellbeing and enjoyment.

What will happen during the session?

During the Chat part of the session women meet and greet each other and engage in conversations.  Discussions take place on a range of topics which are of interest to the women.  Women can enjoy a hot drink and biscuits, sometimes women bring snacks to share with everyone.  Women are free to suggest activities and help to deliver them to the group.  Overall, the women are very supportive of each other, and they thoroughly enjoy meeting up.

During the Splash part of the session, women can swim independently or remain in the shallow end and build confidence in the water which can help them to learn to swim.  We have had some lovely success stories of some of the women, who had no confidence at all in the water, but now they swim like fish!!

Who is it funded by?

Chat & Splash is funded through the Active Communities Programme and the People’s Health Trust.

What other activities are planned for the future?

We are planning for a few Family Fun Day sessions over the next few months, where women can bring their children, girls any age, boys under the age of 8.  We will be having activities such as colouring; painting; Ten Pin Bowling; Hopscotch; Jenga and many more for the children and, should the women want to relive their youth they can join in too.
