It’s heritage week, we usually throw the doors open and show people around the gorgeous hidden spaces here at Moseley Road Baths, and of course take you into the stunning Gala Pool. This year, due to building work to make the Gala Pool accessible once again, we have decided not to hold tours this year.
However, thanks to our partners at National Trust, we can share this stunning drone eye view of Moseley Road Baths. As you can see, your baths need lots of love and refurbishment…so while plans are made for the future, enjoy the view, we did.
We are also fortunate to be working with a ‘coalition’ of organisations – the National Trust, Historic England, World Monuments Fund, Birmingham City Council and the Friends of Moseley Road Baths alongside ourselves – who are working together to secure a future for the building as a whole. As an initial step the Gala Pool Roof is being renovated with a view to making this space useable, and the heritage organisations are working with the City Council to develop a maintenance plan for the building that will halt deterioration and keep the pool operational settings.
The Gala Pool will be back open in early 2020 for the Gala Pool Art project http://moseleyroadbaths.org.uk/gala-pool-art, in the meantime you can view the many spaces of the baths by purchasing one of our new 2020 Calendars, they are only £5 each and every penny supports Moseley Road Baths CIO in our mission to #keepswimming
A big thank you to West Midlands Photo Collective for donating images for the calendar.
